Eugen Varzić belongs to the generational circle of figurative painters approaching the traditional media in a contemporary and individual manner. He doesn’t abandon figuration in his artistic work but give it an additional dimension and recognizability intertwining it into new media in a special way. He is best known for his realistic portraits painted in rich colour with extremely fresh and contemporary themes through which the viewer explore a thousand stories about the painted face and about its background story.
Eugen Varzić was born in Đakovo, Croatia in 1972. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rijeka (Croatia) in 1999. Since then he has frequently exhibited on 30 solo and more than 100 group exhibitions both in Croatia and abroad. He has been rewarded several times for his artistic achievements. His paintings are in many public and private art collections as well as in sacred spaces and churches. His work entitled Eve (Enfer et Paradis) was included in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Fantasy Art in Vienna. In 2016 and 2017 he participated in painting workshops conducted by Eloy Morales.
