EXHIBITION “SPECTACLE”, WINARTS GALLERY MILAN 8.02.-18.03.2018.

Spectacle – Milano

At the WinArts gallery in Milan the exhibition named “Spectacle” was opened. The works of art by the most recognizable Croatian artists of the new generation Martina Grlić and Stjepan Šandrk are represented at this exhibition. Martina Grlić belongs to a stream of Croatian painting, which focuses on the figurative in art and on the narrative potential of the painting. At this show she is presenting the works from her last cycle named Collective Dreams painted in black and white shades. In her art works she tries to revive the past forwarding registered moments from the old photographs to her canvases. Her body of work is a critical reflection on the changes that took place, and are in fact still happening in the post-socialist societies. On the other hand Stjepan Šandrk in very coloristic way is presenting the works from his last cycle named Spectacle. Through his paintings the artist wants to show us the way in which we perceive the culture and art in today's modern society overwhelmed with social media. The exhibition has been realised in cooperation between Zen Contemporary Art gallery and WinArts gallery.

EXHIBITION “A SYNTHESIS OF TRADITIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY ART”, LAUBA HOUSE FOR PEOPLE AND ART, ZAGREB, 28.09.-12.10.2017.

The close cooperation between Lauba – House for People and Art, an independent curator Frankica Mitrović Mihić and the Italian WinArts Gallery has resulted in an exhibition entitled A Synthesis of Traditional and Contemporary Art presenting two young and acclaimed artists: Croatian painter Stjepan Šandrk and Italian sculptor Daniele Fortuna. The exhibition has been realized as a continuation of the sequel of exhibitions in cooperation between galleries with the aim of improving international cooperation among galleries and artists of
our two countries.

At this exhibition Šandrk is presenting the works from his last cycle named Spectacle. Through his paintings the artist wants to show us the way in which we perceive the culture and art in today’s modern society overwhelmed with social media. Daniele Fortuna’s works presented at this exhibition are part of his last cycle called Colormination. They are focused on the human figure interpreted in the light of ancient tradition, but made using a contemporary sculptural morphology.

Interestingly, both artists in their artistic expression remain true to the traditional artistic heritage. Namely, since the last century there has been a rising popularity of new artistic procedures and practices among the artists, such as performances, installations and video art, which has led to the lack of interest in painting and sculpture as traditional media of artistic expression. Nevertheless, Šandrk and Fortuna have managed to revive interest in traditional values and traditional media practices by using them as the basis for their art morphology, but in a quite modern and distinctive way.

EXHIBITION ” SILENCE”, SEBASTIJAN DRAČIĆ, NHOW HOTEL, MILANO, ITALY, 2015.

In the iconic Nhow hotel in Milan, located in the art quarter of Tortona, the exhibition of contemporary art under the name of # SILENCE was opened presenting young, already known and established Italian and foreign artists and designers. Zen Contemporary Art Gallery, in cooperation with the Milanese Gallery WinArts, succeeded in including works of the Croatian contemporary artist Sebastijan Dračić, one of the most prosperous Croatian painters of the younger generation. The large canvases of Sebastijan Dračić are exposed in the very lobby of the hotel next to the reception desk at the most noticeable places in the framework of this team exhibition. All the floors and hotel halls designed as a multifunctional exhibition space are transformed into a large exhibition gallery connecting art and design with the classic hotel concept. Nhow Milano completely overturns the architectural and structual concept of hotel space , favouring the notion of interactive setting, derived from Italian glamour and lifestyle contaminations. It presents an electic style of broad and comfortable spaces, which alternate works of art and design items, while staying true to functionality. The exhibition is open till 31st of March, 2016.
