In the new generation of Croatian contemporary artists who chose painting as their field of activity, Grgur Akrap and his art work undoubtedly with their value and quality of expression represent one of the most impressive and attractive phenomena of the recent art scene. His formal inspiration is found in Redon, Delacroix or Tizian, which he then combines with his own dreams or visions. The themes in his paintings with its symbolic meaning rest on various myths and legends. Mythological characters, wild beast as well as human figures are the main subjects on his expressive paintings. The colours play a huge role on his art images, he usually uses vivid and intense colours to capture mood and emotion. This young, but already highly accomplished artist has created a recognisable and authentic artistic signature. Thick coat of paint, intensive brush strokes, richness of colour, symbolic interpretation are some of the most recognisable elements on his impressive painting compositions.
